You must certainly can!! The unit doesn’t increase its depth with Space-Plug! The unit is made shallower by the manufacturer and adding the pegs simply returns the unit to its original “Datum” depth … hence “Datum Pegs!!! … Just take a look here … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWb0bIJ3P98 … You’ll need the end panels to enclose the void! So definitely still use those! … once you “get it” … and you will! – Please tell your manufacturer/Supplier!

You’ll sit the units next to each other with the pegs touching the wall as best they can (of course walls aren’t flat) but they’ll be close enough to align your front edges to perfection (the Datum Pegs are now non-functional in essence and don’t need to touch the wall) … the unit can now be fitted super strong with precise adjustment using a Space-Plug adjustable spacer fixing in seconds! Wouldn’t dream of it!! Hate commerce for commerce sake! I’m a fitter! This system can potentially save up to 1,000,000m Square metres of MFC a year in the UK alone! So it can save the planet a bit of wasted material and the manufacturer a few pennies but more importantly it means us the fitters never have to scribe another unit, we never get that dread when we offer up and everything just wobbles, and never have to cut up brand new units that haven’t even got a worktop yet! We save time and money and the customer gets a faster, neater fit with no edgebanding in the skip! We are not denying you can’t use a tape measure … totally agree and it is in our brochure as such … but inconsistent walls are what they are made for!
